Nice-to-haves and deal-breakers

Tracey Steddy is based in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, and she was invited to share her story at our event in November. This exercise is inspired by her story.

One day, Tracey felt frustrated with meeting the wrong type of partner (alcoholics). So, she sat down to write a list of five nice-to-haves and five deal-breakers. Some things on her list included financial security and a good communicator. After one month, she met her current husband. They have been married for seven years, and still counting.

Participants at our event found this exercise helpful. No one had stopped to get clear on what they wanted in a relationship. One person had a mind map of their perfect partner, complete with big blue eyes. But, no person is perfect. The key point is less about the person, and more about the kind of relationship you want to share together. Other points that came up on the evening included respect, authenticity and an appreciation for each other’s alone time. You can follow us on Patreon to unlock more content here.
